How-To Video: Gamsol and Alphabet Stamps
Good afternoon!
I have a video share for you. It was originally to show the fun of Gamsol (a product you use with colored pencils to blend perfectly), but I ended up also showing a tip for mounting clear alphabet letters on a mount. This is a card I created as a class project a few months ago, but ended up not using.
As far as Gamsol, this is by no means the perfect/correct way to do this technique. Think of this as the lazy way to do it. :) I use it to make my coloring faster and fool-proof. There are some great/correct tutorials online that are easy to find. And Gamsol works a ton better than any blending pens or pencils... or at least they do for me. :)
And if you are a stamper/cardmaker, this is a product you gotta have. (Yes, I am an enabler. :)
I have to apologize first. :) I had too much to say along with this video to do the text along the bottom, so I had to do a dorky voice over. Sorry!
If you can't get the video to play here, try clicking THIS.
Supplies:
Hero Arts stamps (owl and alphabet),gems and notecards
Memories Black Ink
Inky Antics Gamsol
Paper Pencils and funny eyes from Hobby Lobby

Oh, super cute! Love the way you pieced the word together like that...and the tip on positioning the letters...why had that not occurred to me?! We always go around the table at supper time and each person tells something they learned that day. This will be mine...how to position clear letters. Thanks for the educational video! ;)

Oh my gosh - this little guy is just TOO cute! Your coloring job is fantastic! And I love all of the layering you did with the different sections of paper, too. Lots of dimension and interest! :)
And using gemstones as the ellipsis?! *THUD* Pure genius, miss! :D
(PS - I'm totally addicted to your videos now, heehee!)

This is really cute! Thanks for the Gamsol tip. I always wondered how to get that look from using colored pencils.

What a great video and such a cute card. I can't believe how much I learned from watching the video. I will save myself so much time and frustration utilizing your tips. Thank you!! I do have a question for you about sewing on paper. Do you have to backstitch (is that even what it's called?) at the start and finish to keep the thread from coming loose?

Darling card!
Boy, love the tip on lining up the clear alphas.. I tell ya, my system is so slowwwww... position, stamp, reposition...repeat..
Lots of fun & new techniques for me in this card! Definitely a great lesson day...

Very informative! Super video. You crammed a lot of good tips into six minutes. Loved how you punched out the word (and owl) and then positioned it back on the other "thanks". Also liked how you lined up you letters. I have that same letter stamp set, love it, just wish they would have duplicated some of the letters so that you could spell out words like "happy" without having to stamp "hap" followed by "py" kwim?

Another GREAT, informative video, Jennifer! I like watercolor pencils because I love the "blended" look, but this does the trick! A Caution to pregnant or nursing Mothers: when I was "shopping" for the Gamsol, I noticed they have a blending pencil that does not contain mineral spirits(better for Baby)...
Thank you for Mini-Class today...I LOVE learning!

You totally blow my mind with the speed you can put a card together with all the little details!! I love making cards but they always take me so long. As always you have challenged me to keep making them and who knows someday I may just be faster! Lol!!

Another gorgeous card, you're work is so inspiring. Just wondered if you have ever tried using baby oil instead of the odourless mineral spirits? It works just as well if not better and there is not the risk of brain damage that comes with long term use of gamsol.
