Cards for Kate Card Drive

Here is some info about Kate:

About 6 weeks ago the life of the McRae family changed forever when their precious 5 year old daughter, Kate, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer.  Dad (Aaron) is a pastor in Arizona and he and his wife, Holly have two other children, Will and Olivia.  Of course this is devastating for the whole family and many are praying for them.   (Go to www.prayforkate.com to learn more about this family and their struggle).  Kate has a rough road ahead of her for quite awhile.  When you hear their story you will want to do anything you can to help.

And one thing we can do to help is to send cards to Kate and her family to encourage them, give them strength, and let them know how many people are thinking about and praying for them.  And the most generous and kind people in the world are crafters so we thought we’d have a Cards for Kate Card DriveThis time I have two rockin' friends helping me out - Jana Millen and Kristina Proffitt.  Be sure to watch their blogs for more info, etc.

Think of how much it would encourage this family to receive cards from all over the world.  You can simply send the cards to me. We will then box them up and pay to send them to Kate's parents.  (We have already gotten the ok from them.)

The details:

  • Cards can be for any member of Kate's family:

                           -  Kate (age 5) - The sweet girl who is battling cancer.
                           -  Little brother Will.
                           -  Bigger sister Olivia.
                           -  Mom and Dad, Aaron and Holly.

  • Cards can be anything cheery, encouraging, supportive, etc.  (This family is a family of God, so for all you Christians out there, feel free to share messages of Faith.)  Anyone can send a card - even your children!
  • Please write a message in the card and sign your name and where you are from.  On the card envelope, please write the name of who the card is for (Kate, Will, Olivia, Aaron and/or Kate).  Also, please don't seal the envelope, as Kate's parents might want to preview cards before the kids see them.
  • With your cards, please include a piece of paper with your name, address, email address and number of cards.  We will keep these for picking out prizes.  (See below.)
  • The cards should be sent to:

                        Jennifer McGuire

       Card Drive for Kate

       PO Box 428612

       Cincinnati, Ohio 45242

  • Please send the cards to arrive by October 1. This should give enough time for those overseas to play along. As we get enough to fill a box to send to Kate's family, we will send them.  This way they don't get them all at once.  And since they are having some struggles lately, the sooner we get some cards, the better.
  • If you want to send more than just a card (such as a gift), please just send directly to the address given HERE.
  • If you want to donate money to Kate's family, please click HERE.  If you want to help cover the costs of shipping, feel free to include some money in with your cards.  Any money leftover will be donated to the family.  (But there is NO need to include money.)

And... how about some prizes as a thank you for participating?  For all the cards we get, we will pick random winners of some great prizes.  Click HERE for up-to-date prize info.  Stuff will be added soon and often.  Please keep in mind that winners will be pick based on piece of paper you include with your cards with your name and info. So, be sure to include it!

Thank you everyone,

Jennifer, Kristina and Jana

I actually had two things...seeing my daughter dressed up for her very first school pictures. She was gorgeous in her pretty plaid skirt and blue sweater, and two, I got to redeem my gift certificate for a massage I received from my thoughtful hubby for our anniversary. A good day!

Today, my husband made me smile! He made me laugh after a rather stressful week at work and that is huge for me! I love him so much!

What did I make today? Two layouts for my 2.5 yr old daughters first year album. I think it is awesome that you are coordinating this card drive :)

Woke up sick today and Hubby has helped me the entire day get things ready for our weekend....he always makes me smile as he is such a great husband and always willing to give me a hand......
Love those Punches.....

I would SO love these punches! I've been trying to hunt down the Apron Lace punch and have been eying the circles ones too. :) Had one in my hand today but decided on the MS 3 butterflies instead (also your fault). ;) What made me smile today... hmm... my sister and Dad doing crazy dance moves that my 2 year old would then copy. So very entertaining. :) So glad you getting a good response for the card drive. :)

Wow, how awesome of you Jennifer. :) Something that made me smile today is...your post. The caring that you have for this sweet little girl is just so amazing to me! What a HUGE blessing you will be to her and her family. I'm thankful that I get to be a part of it...

What makes me smile: when someone takes the opportunity to make a difference in the world! Each day we all have a chance to choose how we are going to approach the day and do what we do.. I smile when people choose love as their approach!

I really love how you involve yourself and draw in your many fans to such worthy causes. Thank you for doing this Jennifer, it really shows what a caring person you are.

So what made me smile today? My sweet 10 year old daughter and her beautiful smile that just lights up our lives!

What made me smile today...it would have to be my youngest. He is at this stage in develompent that he can stand from sitting without any assistance but from that point he gets nerveous about how to put one foot in front of the other. He is just so close that you really can't wait for him to succeed and then I know I will be in trouble...the little monkey is just that a monkey that can climb onto anything...

Hooray for punches!! Punches make ME smile:-)

My children rode the bus to school today for the first time ever. And my 8-year-old actually wanted to sit by his kid sister. Seeing them sitting together through the bus window did my heart good. And made me smile.

My Mom got out of the ICU, moved into a regular room, on the road to getting better.

Todays smile - my 3 year old son eating a Star Bar @ Dairy Queen! Too Cute!

Today I smiled when my husband sent me a text saying "hi, hot stuff". I just love that he does that sort of thing from time to time. After 16 years of marriage I look forward to every new day with him.

Today I took my 1-year-old daughter and my 3-year-old son to the zoo for a beautiful day. My 4 month old nephew also came along. I loved seeing how much my son loves talking and entertaining my nephew, it definitely brought a smile to my face. I'd love the punches and I'm gathering cards for Kate!

My cards for Kate (and family) should be coming to you very soon! I also added a little thing to my sidebar (after I posted about it, of course!) in hopes that some crafty people will see it and send in some cards. =)

I smiled today because when I left for worship practice at church, my 5 year old sister wanted to give me a kiss goodbye--she then proceeded to with a very theatrical performance! Maybe she saw it in a movie? =)

Something that made me smile was just being with my kids today and how they can say the funniest things.

What made me smile today was getting cupcakes from the bakery by my house after work. Nothing says happy day like yellow cake with chocolate frosting and sprinkles !!!!

My son made me smile today. His dog (stuffed) gave me the most humongous slurping lick from one end of my face to the other end.

What made me smile today was my son singing "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep". It's his favorite song.

What made me smile today was hearing a cheery Brother-in-law on the other end of the phone this morning. He had cancer surgery yesterday and wasn't doing well pain-wise when I left last night. He called to let us know he was feeling soooo much better. :)

Spending a small amount time of one on one time with my 12 year old son.Even though it was at the doctor's office, it was special. He is so funny, makes me smile all the time.

Watching old family videos. They were a hoot!

Funny you should ask what made me smile today because I just found out a friend of mine posted about my new blog on the Cricut message board. I now have 18 followers because of her sweetness!!

My mother-in-law had a successful surgery yesterday and is doing GREAT!! super smiles all around for that! ;)

I made some cards today and they made me smile!

Today was "Back to School Night" at the school where I teach. I smiled when a parent told me that his daughter really enjoys my class : ) (Can you believe someone would enjoy geometry???)

Smiling right now as I listen to my husband and son play during bath time. :)

I smiled today when I realized how lucky I was that my son who will be turning 18 tomorrow was healthy and happy.

I thought about what hubby said the other day, and that made me smile on how silly he could be at times.

Things that made me smile today: a funny event at work, that College Football season is starting, and that tomorrow is Friday. =)

It makes me smile when my daughter packed up all her stuff for college today. She knows exactly what she wants and not missing a thing or two..... ALL grown up! I'm very blessed and I'm thinking of Kate. God bless Kate and her family!!

A phone call from my parents!

I'm smiling right now as I see my grandparents quibble over a silly thing. They're just too cute together.

Going to lunch with my kids and husband today - because there aren't many days left to have lunch with the kids when they back to school next week!

Eating dinner outside w/my 2 1/2 year old son, just the two of us tonight. Spending one-on-one time with my children always makes me smile. :-)

My 6 month old baby girl was having a rotten day...and at the end of the day, I noticed that she was cutting her 2nd tooth! That made me smile, because then all her crabbiness was totally worth it :)

my new job! my supervisors are very encouraging and it's such an improvement from my previous position. I'm so thankful to be blessed with this job!

My 2 year old son made smile today: I gave him a flower stamp and red ink pad (what was I thinking), now my room is red instead of yellow :P I thought I was going to be mad, but I couldn't resist and started laughing, especially when he (by himself, without me telling him to) took a paper towel and started wiping off the walls :) That not only made me smile, that made me happy!
Wanted to tell you that I think it's great what you're doing for this adorable little girl! If there were more people like all of you, the world would be an even better place!

Picking up my husband from the airport made me smile today.

Laura

Today my (almost)11 month old started to crawl for the very first time. He was born with a blood clot in his brain and because of that he has had seizures and catrostophic spasms that have cause some delay. But now he is off of all of his meds and developing as normal.. just a little behind. He makes me smile everyday, but this milestone was special.

The flowers I received today with a nite saying "Congratulations on your first week of work! Love you!" My husband makes my world go rounf!

Listening to my children makes me smile. I am grateful for their health.

My 18mo. old playing "chicken" with the sprinkler - seeing if he could run in then running back out!

I smiled when driving home my teenager after school. We really share the same sense of humor and she makes me giggle.

A brilliant sunny spring day!

My 3 kiddos make me smile everyday with something they do or say. Tonight as I was tucking my 4 year old daughter into bed, she told me she loved and appreciated me. Aww! I treasure those sweet moments! Thanks for the chance to win!

I smiled this morning when our baby kitten was meowing to get in my bathroom. She was so desparate to see me!! Then I smiled again when I went in my daughter's room and she was still all warm and snuggly from sleeping! :)

What made me smile today is when I told my little niece that I had a present for her, she said that I was a great present.

Knowing the 4 day weekend has begun made me smile today. :D :D :D Thanks for a chance to win!
