Day 1 of Trio Challenge

I am so tickled to start this next same stamp challenge.

Why? This one was planned in person. And I love that.

A few weeks ago, Lucy Abrams and I stayed at Kathy Racoosin's home. We had such a delightfully wonderful time. Perfection. While there, we decided to do a same-stamp challenge between the three of us. Such. Fun. Kathy will focus on her trade-mark coloring techniques. Lucy will rock her fabulous use of patterned paper. Me? I will get inky. And we will all use the same stamp. Yum.

So, this is Day 1 of our Trio Challenge. Kathy, Lucy and I will all be using THIS stamp from Penny Black. (Yes, I am aware it isn't Hero Arts. But we play well with others. :)

4092KATHORNYAFFAIR I was a bit stumped on how to tackle the hedgehog, so I just decided to do away with him completely :) I stamped the image 3 times and just cut out the leaves and berries. After inking them with Distress Inks and my Ink Blending Tool, I spritzed them with some perfect pearl water. I finished it off with a Tim Holtz die cut, some Hero Arts stamps/lace and Basic Grey paper...

So, see that rockin' lace? I so love it. It is self-adhesive, easy to use and easy to ink. Lovely stuff - not at all like a cheap-looking-lace. It comes in cream HERE and white HERE...

I used my favorite flouish stamp to spice up the text Basic Grey red paper. This stamp works with everything...

Now, be sure to head over to Kathy's blog to see her master coloring and Lucy's blog to see her amazing use of patterned paper with the same stamp.

See you soon.

I love these challenges...makes you really think outside of the box and how to use stamps in a different way.

Beautiful card. But i miss the hedgehog, he looks so adorable.

Love the rich burgundy background with the subtle flourish, it's so elegant with the lace and spray of holly!

What a truly wonderful and fun inspiring week ahead, with 3 of my favourite crafters, so excited to see this happen, and what a start to a week ahead, your card Jen, is amazing, you blow me away with how you created this masterpiece, thanks for sharing your wonderful talent. Hugs!

Beautiful! It's funny how you can take part of a "cute" stamp and turn it into an elegant project! I love hedgies so I would like to see what you would do with him also!

This is an Awesome idea! Love to se how different pros use the same things! love your card. it is really a stunner!

Absolutely delicious, a gorgeous rich card - this challenge is so much fun! I've seen Lucy's card, equally adorable, and now heading over to Kathy's blog! Hope this goes on and on !!

I sometimes struggle with parts of a stamp that I don't like or that doesn't fit in with my creativie process. Thanks for reminding me that it's "okay" to use just parts of stamps! This card is so very pretty!

Beautiful card and really, the hedgehog no matter how cute he is, would not have added a thing to your card! :)

Oh, this is going to be a fantastic week! You are all so talented! Love the way you used just the holly for this beautiful card! Wonderful rich colors! I'm loving that Fab Flourish!

Goodness, you've really taken a different angle on that stamp! How clever to see it's potential. What a great card, and that lace is scrummy, Jo x

I am somewhat disappointed Jennifer. If this is a challenge, why take the easiest road? If colouring the hedgehog is difficult for you, I think you should have tried it, and not just give up. Your card is great, but it could have looked elegant with the hedgehog too.

This is going to be GREAT! Love your card today- so elegant!

Very nice, but I miss the hedgehog

Clever stamp use you would never guess it normally has a hedgehiog attatched!.

Awesome...who would have thought a cute stamp can be turned into something elegant as this! Way to go!

Great challenge and great card but I do miss the hedgehog, he's so cute!
Eveline.

Love your card, and the fact that you show a different way to use that stamp.

This is fabulous Jennifer, love how you have only used part of the stamp and created this stunning card.

Absolutely GORGEOUS! Love the yummy traditional Christmas colors. :)

wow this is such a clever way of using this stamp so inspiring xx

Wow, just amazing. So creative. I would never have thought of only using part of a stamp... (yes with digi but never with regular stamps). Thanks for the inspiration. Love what the girls created too... amazing.

as always--Beautiful card

I bow to you on this one- how fun that you cut out the hedge hog and came up with this beautiful card.Great design and colors.

You are such a genius and a constant source of inspiration. Look at the card...it's stunning!!!!!! It's so awesome to have a visual of you creating, spraying, inking and adding it all together. I so look forward to another magical moment. Thanks for this great idea it has been very special. Hugs,Kathy

You are so clever Jennifer. I LOVE the way you've just used part of the image - you always put a unique spin on everything. You're SUCH an inspiration to me. xxx

What a smile I had when you mentioned :not a heroarts stamp" - heehee have we become such a communtity of HA fanatics!!! Love your beautiful card, you turned cute into elegance with some snipping with your scissors. Off to check out Lucy and Kathy's creations. Thank you!!!!

What a wonderful card.
Love that you used only part of the stamp. It is thinking out of the box.
I like the way you stamped on the plain paper to make it look very elegant.
Thanks for inspiring us. Off to check out the others.

Ah, well... no need to be disappointed. I spent A LOT of time on this card, so it wasnt the easiest road. In fact, using a stamp in a creative way like this IS the harder road!

Very nice card! I really like this design and colors.

You are my salvation!! Having a bad day (it seems to be bad quarter) . . . go visit Jennifer and realize that it is okay to "cheat" on Hero Arts. I now can take out other stamps and use them in the daylight!!!! You guys are too cool!!!!

Love how you made the stamp work for you!

Love how you cut the hedgehog right outta there! Became such a gorgeous, sophisticated card without him! Thanks for your daily inspiration--I'm going to try my best to carve out some time to play along with the new round of thinking inking. :)

Oh my goodness....3 of my most favorite artists teaming up to inspire us, what could be better?!! Your card is amazing, it's got a fabulous Victorian look to it; I'm so impressed!

Another great card from such a talented lady!!

This is going to be fun! And I never think to cut something out of the stamp!

You've out done yourself this time Jennifer. What a beautiful card.

This is amazing. I love how you used just part of the stamp.

I don't have a clue what to do with Hedgehogs either! This is a great holly card!

amazing how it came from that little stamp.

Beautiful Christmas cards even without the hedgehog.

Well how clever are you to just use the holly!!

Hedgehogs are really cute, but I like the way you turned
this into something really elegant!

Gorgeous card - love how you made it suit your style by just using part of the image. And how yummy is that red BG paper? - I just got this 6x6 pad & I'm scared to use it 'cos then it will be gone!

love the lace, beautiful card Jennifer!
Sandra

Beautiful card - love your inky projects!

Jennifer, I love the way you changed up the stamp. What a beautiful card!

really love how you used that stamp. the outside of box thinking! very pretty and elegant card. LOVE IT!! soooo looking forward to this week. it's going to be so fun!! =)

It's so cool to see these challenges and how each of you make a totally different card! I love how you didn't use the hedgehog. From now on I will look at stamps differently and maybe use only a part of it. Or multiply it like you once did; you spelled Yummy with a Yum stamp. You're so clever!

totally amazing... all three cards are stunning.
