Hello from CHA!

I am here in LA for the CHA show. And a very happy girl.

All my lovely crafty friends in one town? Delightful.

I have shared several photos over on Twitter and will share some more tomorrow. It is so hard to see everyone in these couple of days but I sure try my best. Even if it is just for a big big big hug.

Here are a few shots with my iPhone...

I did this card using only Hero Arts new patterned papers. They are heavy tone-on-tone papers that are perfect for stamping on and creating cards with. Nice and thick and yummy...

And the wonderful, sweet Kelly Goree. We are both over the moon that Hero Arts and BasicGrey have teamed together!

Don't you just love...

... when you are doing something mundane and stumble upon something that makes your heart smile?

Today, while working on my computer, I accidentally opened a folder of my favorite photos.

And saw these.

My heart smiled.

I am off to CHA in the morning and I will be sharing lots of tweets (find me HERE) and posts from there. Lots of great things will be happening. So excited to see my friends and get big hugs from so many wonderful crafty folks!

Copics on Canvas

Hello!

I have been working like mad on samples for CHA for Hero Arts, Tim Holtz and Ranger. Thought I would take a break and share a sample I made for a previous CHA.

I don't think I have shared this one and it uses one of my favorite combos: Copics and canvas.

Yep... it works very well! I stamped the Hero Arts flower with Archival Black Ink on Sticky Back Canvas. I then colored away with my Copics. They do bleed a bit on the canvas, so I just was careful to not color right up to the lines but rather in a bit....

This Sticky Back Canvas is actually the ATC-sized canvas. Perfect for the front of a card. Love.

It is bright, huh? Hopefully it will give cheer to the person I am sending it to.

And that background stamp on the green is one of my fave Tim Holtz ones. So fun...

Oh! And guess what!? It looks like Copics have a great price over at Simon Says Stamps. Only $4.99 a piece with free shipping over $70. Great deal. If you want info on my favorite Copics, click HERE.

See you soon!

Housekeeping

Hi!

I have some random bits of stuff today. :)

Card drive updates:

  • We are about to pick winners of the latest round of Cards for Kids. If you sent cards, please make sure you are included HERE. Winners will be picked this week.
  • Instead of having another round of Cards for Kids, we decided to take a break and collect cards for the elderly. But you can still send cards to the kids - I will collect them and send - there just won't be prizes for it.
  • We will start the card drive for the elderly soon. But I need some help! We want to pick 10-15 nursing homes that we can send cards to. I am looking for volunteers to contact one of their local nursing homes and see if they would be interested in getting a box of cards to pass out to their patients. Once it is arranged, I will collect the cards and ship a box to the volunteer who would then deliver it to the home. If you are interested, please email me. Thank you!

And I have some winners to announce! I have emailed you all.

Will you be at CHA?

  • I will be in the Hero Arts booth Saturday and Sunday. (Gotta head home on Monday.)
  • I will be demonstrating in the Hero booh on Saturday from 2-5 and Sunday from 2-5.

I gotta get some work done. I will be back with more soon. :)

Another giveaway!

I have another giveaway. What can I say - it feels good to share. :)

This one is for a copy of the newest idea book from Creating Keepsakes called The Best of Digital Scrapbooking.

NOW... before you non-digi folks run in the other direction, please listen. :)

CRKP-1042-CV-FINAL2
This book is fabulous for the incredible design ideas in addition to the digi tips. I have found that folks who are good at digital scrapbooking also really have a fabulous eye for great design. So I look at this book as a "sketch book", too. So many feb designs.

Check out the layout on the cover. I LOVE the idea of cutting out the center of a photo, matting it and adding it back into place. So cool. And you don't need digi for it! This book is for everyone.

There are SO many great eye-candy layouts in this book. Want a peek? Click HERE.

Interested in buying it? Go HERE and use the code DS25DT for free shipping on orders of $25 or more. (While there, you can get my book, too, HERE.)

For a chance to win a copy of this book, leave a comment on this post by Monday night telling me your favorite crafting color.

Good luck! I will announce the winners of many of these giveaways soon. Night!

Oh, and Happy 7th Birthday to the best dog in the world. We love you, Roxie! :)

Giveaways galore... Today is my favorite giveaway ever!

So, I have lots of giveaways. Lots.

I have recently purged my crafting stash. (I do every 2 months.) And I have a lot of great stuff to pass on to a few lucky folks.

But before I get to the crafty goodness, I have a very special giveaway. Very special.

First, I want to share the story behind this giveaway.

Years ago, I was looking for some fabulous little girl photos to use in the yearly Hero Arts catalog. I was looking around 2peas and saw a photo of a little girl named Sarah. I emailed her momma, Erin - who was so very nice - and asked if I could use her photos for scrapbooking. She said yes and I was over the moon.

Turns out that same little girl won the Gap Casting Call - a HUGE kids photo contest. She was THAT cute.

So... every year, come catalog time, I  Erin for great photos of her little Sarah. She is always so kind to share. Her photos are striking and amazing. SO SO SO fun to scrapbook.

Last year I found out Erin was coming to my neck of the woods. I immediately reserved a spot for my family to get in front of her lens. A dream come true. Truly. Between Erin and Lisa, my photo album is complete.

Unfortunately, the girls were out of town while Erin was here, so we didn't get photos of them. But my mom, dad and brother joined us. We had such fun. Erin is beyond talented behind the camera. And so extremely good, sweet, kind, funny, cute and comforting. Erin is a little angel walking around this world. We need more like her.

(Yes, I am getting off the topic.)

And since getting our pictures taken by Erin (which are framed all over my house), I have longed for my photos to have the same "life" in them as hers do. Her photos are simply "alive" and bright. The day after meeting with Erin, Ken bought the same lens she used and other tools, hoping we could capture shots halfway as good as hers.

But I always miss the mark.

Yesterday, I got some photos back in the mail. Bummer. They looked so "dead" and I immediately said to Ken, "I wish my photos were alive like Erin's."

Then I looked at my email. I saw Erin was offering a tutorial video showing her workflow - how she edits photos and brings them to life. Answered prayers. Amen.

I immediately went and purchased the tutorial - Clean Color. I didn't hesitate for a second. I then emailed Erin thanking her for being all around amazing and for creating this product for me.

And what do you think that sweet, generous, kind Erin said? "Wanna give one away on your blog?"

Woohoo! I am over the moon. To share with you Erin's talents? THAT ROCKS. I am so excited.

Now you and I can have photos this amazing...

I just really enjoy people who are truly talented and where God meant them to be - like Erin. If you want Erin's awesome Clean Color download, click HERE. It is simply amazing. Honest.Move quick - she is offering an extra low price just this week only.

A quick oldie...

Hey there.

Just popping in quickly to share an old card I stumbled across on my computer. Lots of inking-with-Distress-Inks-and-spritzing-with-water-before-stamping stamping. :) All stamps are Hero Arts.

Oh, and that is a pink card turned inside out. Love to add that bit of surprise inside.

Off to catch up on computer work. See you soon!
